are we vicarious ?

In my one of the many management exams which i wrote in last couple of months there was a verbal analogy question where there was an option vicarious:second hand. Due to some damn connotation i marked and as always for me it was the wrong answer.
But 2day i feel vicarious can be first hand. If it was pathan who took a hat-trick against pakistan.I felt the goose bumps. An i can be sure mine are as good as his.Now i know vicarious means FIRST HAND
